Comments:
- North Korea sent 25 pilots to Syria during the 3rd Arab-Israeli war of 1966,
and 30 pilots to Egypt and Syria during the 4th Arab-Israeli war of 1973. In
1976, North Korea sent more than 40 pilots to Syria.
- A contingent of North Korean pilots was sent to Syria and Egypt during the
Yom Kippur in 1973 and flew MiG-21s. They allegedly shot down some F-4 Phantoms
and Mirage IIIs and lost up to 20 pilots. They flew the last aerial combat on 6
December 1973 when they fought with 2 Phantoms. Israelis claim one MiG-21 shot
down. The second MiG was accidentally shot down by Egyptian air defence.
