Comments
  1. Capt. Asther Tolossa recorded the "historic first" by becoming the first female pilot to shot down an enemy jet fighter in air combat: flying one of EtAF Su-27S' Tolossa encountered a lonesome ERAF MiG-29UB, and shot it down after some maneuvering.
  2. On 16 May 2000 one last engagement developed, when at least two Su-27s intercepted a formation of ERAF MiG-29s underway for an air-to-ground sortie. One of the MiGs was immediately shot down, while the other - damaged by a single R-27 AAM - crashed during emergency landing at Asmara AB.
